We are celebrating Jeff Rupert and his powerful role in shaping ScanCAD and what it is today, as well as where we are going as a company tomorrow. Jeff is stepping back from his full-time role into a partial role as a phase of semi-retirement, and it’s important that we recognize and celebrate all that we are as a company because of him. Please join us in raising our glass to Jeff!

A Note from Bill

It is my pleasure to recognize Jeff for his many accomplishments at ScanCAD during his almost 25-year tenure as our Director of Business Development. His strong work ethic coupled with is deep technical engineering background (Hughes Aircraft, Sandia National Labs, GSI Lumonics, Siemens, etc.) has been a perfect match for our global high-tech company. Jeff joined ScanCAD after working as the AOI Global Product manager for Siemens, including managing a joint ScanCAD/Siemens product development project. It takes a special person to understand ScanCAD’s wide variety of Inspection, Measurement and PCB Reverse Engineering products and carefully match them to our customers’ needs. ScanCAD grew from supporting both private and public sector customers in 30 countries to over 50 countries. This was done using a variety of sales channels including Direct, Manufacturer Representative, Distributor and OEM channels. He helped manage ScanCAD sales through the next three business cycles that severely impacted our industry, the 2007/8 global financial crisis, the 2015 crash and the 2020 Covid event. Each time stepping up to do what was needed to navigate the situations successfully.

In 2017, Jeff even co-authored a book, “PCB-RE: Tools & Techniques (PCB Reverse Engineering Series Collection)” that serves as a valuable tool in our industry and is available on Amazon. A book that ships with every ScanCAD PCB RE system.

Over time, Jeff earned equity in ScanCAD and eventually a seat on the Board of Directors. He will remain a ScanCAD owner and board member after his retirement, continuing to serve in an advisory capacity for years to come.

We are most grateful for Jeff’s contributions to ScanCAD over these many years and are very happy to see his continued strategic input in the future.

A Note from Travis

Jeff is a deep thinker and brings a huge amount of historical knowledge and experience along with an incredible sense of strategy and critical thinking. We are excited that he has decided to remain onboard in a part-time strategic capacity helping to guide, inform, and shape the future of ScanCAD. He is a crucial voice on our board of directors and will continue to support ScanCAD for years to come.

On a personal note, I have had the profound pleasure of knowing Jeff for over 20 years. Throughout this time, he has been a friend, mentor, and colleague. Jeff has a unique ability to see the big picture and connect dots that others miss. Additionally, he has deep integrity and always works to chart a course that honors all stakeholders. I have learned a great deal from Jeff over the years and I am deeply grateful for the time we have had together on the ScanCAD team.

Here’s to many more years to come!

A Note from Jeff

And finally, Jeff shares a bit about his path forward and what he has enjoyed during his time with ScanCAD:

I was the Director of Sales and Business Development for 25 years and will be staying on in semi-retirement mode as Board Director & Sales Strategy Advisor.

Very much enjoyed being part of a team that helped shape ScanCAD into what it is today. I am proud to have been a part of ScanCAD’s positive work environment and commitment to excellence of products, service and support for our customers. I have also had the pleasure of supporting many dedicated professionals around the world, including customers, Sales Representatives and Distributors have made many relationships that will last a lifetime.

I will be stepping away from the day-to-day functions of ScanCAD but look forward to supporting ScanCAD’s next phase as a strategic advisor.

In my free time I plan on:

  • Spending time with my wife & family
  • Travelling to new places
  • Visiting our daughter and her husband in Boston
  • Bike riding on the border-to-border trail near our home in Ann Arbor, Michigan
  • Kayaking on the Huron River
