Environmental Benefits in ScanCAD Products
Reverse Engineering’s Green Benefit
• Environmental benefits of keeping legacy systems operating and out of landfills.
• Reduced raw material, energy use, carbon footprint, air & water pollution, etc.
• E-waste is the world’s fastest-growing waste stream, fueled mainly by short life cycles, and few options for repair.
Inspection’s Green Benefit
• Reduce scrap and rework in today’s electronics manufacturing factories by effectively catching problems BEFORE mass production. By making sure all the items come together smoothly on today’s automated systems, we can bypass large problems that would otherwise be found too late.
A German auto manufacturer was forced to recall thousands of automobiles due to a single improperly soldered electrical component. They now use ScanCAD inspection systems to avoid future occurrences. What is the environmental cost of a recall like this? Enormous. The cause was a single opening smaller than a freckle on your finger that was missing — one opening of thousands on a single stencil was the culprit. Multiply this little error by the tens of thousands of solder paste stencils that are used each day and you see the green benefit. This is just one application of ScanCAD’s automated inspection system, ScanINSPECT.
